At-Tarāduf wa al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī fī al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah
Abstract
The terms synonyms (Tarāduf) and al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī (homonymy/polysemy) are used to explain a meaning and its limitations. By understanding the synonyms and al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī, we will understand the true meaning used in the context of verses or those that are contained in various words, so that the understanding of meaning is not different from each other, or adjacent regarding its meaning or vice versa. The definition of a synonym does not have the same agreement between ancient and modern scientists. The synonyms in our agreement mean two or more words that show the same meaning, authentic, equal, one-word, and in a language environment. Do not say a word is synonymous if it has no condition and why. Then, the definition of al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī has no similar agreement between ancient and modern scientists. The definition of al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī in our deal is a word that has many meanings or is related to the same meaning, in one word, from adjacent or far-reaching meanings. Thus, this article speaks of synonyms and al-Mushtarak al-Lafẓī in Arabic because they are derived from semantic relations in words and meanings.
