Al-Alfādz al-Gharībah wa ma’ānīha fī al-Qur’ān al- Karīm ‘inda Ibni ‘Abbās wa ‘Alāqatihā bi as-Syi’ri al-‘Arabiy
Abstract
This research is based on the premise that strange expressions (Gharib al-Qur'an) are found within the Holy Qur'an according to the narrations of Ibn Abbas, as documented by Imam al-Suyuti in his seminal work, al-Itqan fi Ulum al-Qur'an (The Perfection in the Sciences of the Qur'an). This study offers numerous benefits by examining the linguistic mechanisms, semantic frameworks, and expansive sciences embedded within these expressions. Comprehending these semantic apparatuses is of paramount importance for Muslims, as it enables a truer preservation of textual meaning and deepens the overall understanding of this Noble Book. Based on the core problems identified in this study, the researcher outlines the objectives of this research across three distinct sections: 1) to identify and classify the strange expressions (al-Alfaz al-Gharibah) found within the specific Surahs mentioned; 2) to clarify the contextual meanings of these strange words within the selected Surahs; and 3) to demonstrate the explicit relationship between the strange words in the designated Surahs and ancient Arabic poetry (al-Shi'r al-Arabi) as established by Ibn Abbas.
